Department of Radioactive Waste Management (DMDR) from IFIN-HH has two major facilities of national interest:
-The Radioactive Waste Processing Facility
-The National Deposit of Radioactive Wase of Low and Medium Activity Băiţa, Bihor county.
The mission of the DMDR department consists in managing radioactive waste from national institutions as a result of technical applications from fields such as education, medicine, agriculture or industry whilst conforming to officially established safety measures in order to protect the operators, the population and the environment.
IFIN-HH is one of the most important public R&D organizations in Romania. The institute is dedicated to the research and development in physical and natural sciences, mainly Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering, and in related areas including Astrophysics and Particle Physics, Field Theory, Mathematical and Computational Physics, Atomic Physics and Physics of Condensed Matter, Life and Environmental Physics. In all these fields, IFIN-HH conducts theoretical and experimental research.
