ICAMCYL and the Iberian Sustainable mining Cluster will coordinate a proposal for technosol development using mining tails for improved mining site restoration, pollutant immobilisation and decontamination.
The project will create a network to share best practices in mine sites reclamation, land decontamination and soil development using mining tails and novel nature based solutions. The project aims to stimulate the emergence of abandoned mine restoration and diffusion of best technological solutions for mine reclamation with special focus on biotechnology for trace elements immobilisation. The project will develop the state of the art technosol to a new stage of development using added microorganisms communities and developing materials for their long lasting action in the immobilisation of trace elements. Tailored technosol designed for using mine tailings, biomass and biological amendments and other materials to immobilize and remediate pollutants, avoid acid mine drainage and enable fast and easy phytoremediation. Project aim to provide new business opportunities and develop new strategies for land reclamation.
ICAMCYL is linked and devoted to the promotion of the regional industrial competitiveness, with an industrial alliance of 20 SMEs, coordinating ISMC cluster (with more than 60 members -mostly SMEs- from the sector of the extractive industry and associated services). ICAMCYL also takes part of the international strategy of industrial resource efficiency management, energy efficiency, eco-innovation and critical materials substitution.
Our strong liaison and contact with these industrial ecosystems, industrial green valleys and key cities we can offer demo sites to apply a wide range of technologies developed within the whole mining value chain.
