1. Supply of raw materials from exploration and mining
I am a computer modeling/simulation and data science person with experience collaborating with very diverse fields: graphene/material science, statistical physics (my original background), neuroscience, physiology, and even social sciences – all in relation to the mechanism underpinning the problems in these fields. I am heading Complex Systems & Data Science Lab at my institution. We use data mining/machine learning to extract novel useful information from the empirical data. On the other end, we create mathematical models not from the data but from the physical hypotheses about the underlying systems, which serve as a guide for experiments. My institution is a public faculty in Slovenia. We posses two super-computers, both would be largely available for us in case we win this funding. We are very research- and project-oriented institution, recently had three major EU projects in super-computing, presently run FLAG-ERA EU project “Preparation and characterization of single/few layer antimonene and germanium” (altogether about 2M EUR).
